Chairman Alderman Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Parks and Recreation Master Plan• Communitv Plannin�Session
Director of Parks and Recreation Merkel welcomed everyone to the second public planning and
discussion meeting regarding the development of the 2006 Parks and Recreation Master Plan. He
introduced Steve Halberg of Bonestroo, Devery and Associates, a landscape architect with the
firm responsible for development and guidance during the 2006 Pa.rks and Recreation Master
Plan process.
Mr. Halberg announced the purpose of this evening's meeting, stating all attendees are
encouraged to participate in active discussion and planning regarding the development of
following four park a.reas:
1. Peterseri Park, including waterfront, former Cunat Property expansion, and Petersen Farm
�, Homestead Property;
2. Knox Park, Wheeler Park, and Miller Riverfront Park;
3. Fox Ridge Park, Boulder Creek Park, Phea,sant Valley Park ;
4. Althoff Park, Whispering Oaks Park, Cold Springs Park.

�-- Mr. Ha.lberg acknowledged this is the second of four proposed public input planning and
discussion mef;tings regarding the development of the 2006 Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
He stressed the importance of active public input in the process. He noted the availability of tools
such as pencils, paper, scaled rulers and reference resources(i.e. textbooks providing details such
as amount of area needed for a tennis court, baseball field, golf course, etc.)to assist in planning
park azea or athletic facility development and expansion.
Mr. Halberg noted the green hatched areas on the park aerials depict area.s which are conducive
to park development. The red hatched areas represent cautionary areas which may have wetiands
or other issues which might make development either impossible or difficult.
Mr. Halberg stated several members of Bonestroo, Devery and Associates were in attendance to
assist should yuestions arise or help be needed during this evening's discussions. They include:

Bill Dincheck, business manager from Libertyville off'ice.
While personnel from Bonestroo, Devery and Associates are available to answer questions and
assist when necessary, the main thrust and creativity of the planning and discussions this evening
should be pro��ided by the public in attendance.
Those in attendance then dispersed into the previously mentioned four general workshop groups.
