PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING
OCTOBER 16, 1996
The meeting convened at 6:35 with the following in attendance: Alderman Bolger, Alderman
Bates, Alderman Baird, Alderman Locke, Alderman Lawson, Mayor Cuda, Pam Althoff, Dennis
Jordan, Fred Batt to discuss the road repair program for next Spring.
Chairman Bolger gave his recommendations for consideration which included: Grove, Grand,
Shore Drive Highview, Young Street, Virginia, Oak Avenue, Manchester Mall, Somerset, Main
Street, Chickaloon, Bull Valley Road, Washington, Broad Street, McCullom Lake Road.
Alderman Baird's recommendations for consideration were: Chickaloon, Orleans, Beach (after
Bull Valley Road has been completed). Main Street should be included in the revitalization
program and Front Royal should be considered.
Batt advised that Shore could be put off until after the Lakeland Park Drainage Program has been
completed. It could be patched temporarily.
Consideration should also be given to Meadowlane, the road that runs along side the Library.
Main Street needs to be discussed.

Alderman Bates suggested Washington, Orleans, Chickaloon, Main and the alley behind
Clearbrook be considered.
Alderman Lawson's recommendations for consideration are: Beach, Orleans, Chickaloon, Front
Royal, Shore and Washington. Main Street -- may want to wait. McCullom Lake Road should
also be considered in front of North Town on both sides.
Batt stated that if we do Front Royal we should include Manchester Mall and Somerset at the
same time.
Alderman Locke recommended Chickaloon, 100 feet of Front Royal, Manchester Mall and spot
fill Hanley be considered.
Mayor Cuda advised that only parts of Washington from St. Pats to Riverside Drive need repair.
Green Street from Washington to Pearl are in bad shape and Main Street from the school to
Route 31 should be considered.
Bids need to be put together by Januaxy with the bid letting in February.
Alderman Bolger advised that the area near the Methodist Church on Main Street needs repair.
Main Street between Green and Route 31 can be done.

Batt advised �:hat we can allocate $300,000 for the Street Program. MFT funds can also be used
for traffic signals. Discussion centered on a traffic signal at Tamaxa and alternate ways out of
Irish Prairie.
Jordan stated there should be a special meeting to discuss the Main Street revitalization to look
into the probl ems.
Motion to adjourn by Baird, seconded by Bates. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 PM.
