Also in Attendanc;e: Mayor Althoff, City Administrator Lobaito, Alderman Low, Director of Public Works Marcinko, .Assistant Director of Public Works Fink and City Clerk Jones. Chairman Alderman Bolger called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. No Parking on Dartmoor Drive Adjacent to Fox Ridge Park Chairman�3olger noted parking concerns on Dartmoor Drive neaz Fox Ridge Park. He stated he persona.11y observc�d traffic patterns adjacent to Fox Ridge Park on Dartmoor Drive and suggested parking be permitted on the north side of Dartmoor Drive only from Waters Edge to Whitmore Terrace. Alderman Glab suggested restricting parking to the park side of Dartmoor Drive, believing it to be safer for the children in reaching the park. He expressed concerns regarding restriction of parking on Dartmoor Drive and thereby creating parking issues on the adjacent side streets. Director of Public Works Marcinko noted an effort was made to address as many concerns as possible, stating StafF's recommendation if to prohibit parking on the south side of Dartmoor Drive from Waters Edge to Boone Creek. Director Marcinko noted this would facilitate proper sight distance for vehicular traffic at the intersection of Huntington and Dartmoor Drives. Alderman Wimmer stated he concurred with the Staff recommendation. `'' Motion by Wimmer, seconded by Bolger, to recommend to Council there be no parking permitted at anytime on the south side of Dartmoor Drive from Waters Edge Drive to the Boone Creek Bridge. Aye: Bolger, Wimmer Nay: None Abstain: Glab Motion carried. Construction of a Sidewalk Along the West Side of Green Street from the Municipal Center to Miller Road Chairman Bolger noted a resident approached Council at the Apri129, 2002 regulazly scheduled Meeting requesting construction of a sidewalk along the west side of Green Street from the Municipal Center to Miller Road for the safety of pedestrians walking from McHenry Shores Subdivision to the Skate Park. He opined a developer will put in sidewalks as the property is developed, however, a safety issue currently exists. Director of Public Works Marcinko stated a 4-foot sidewalk would be within the public right of way and would not encroach on any designa.ted wetlands. The project would extend from the existing sidewalk on the west side of Green Street, in front of the Municipal Center, south to the northwest corner of Green Sireet and Miller Road and would create a safe access to the Municipal Center and `-- Skatepark facilities. Director Marcinko noted the estimated cost of the project is $3,700 suggesting Street Division employees might be used for construction since the project only entails a short distance. Public Works Committee Meeting May 6, 2002 Page 2 � Director Marcinko responding to Chairman Alderman Bolger's inquiry stated construction of the sidewalk could begin as early as late Summer, but in no case later than early Fall. Alderman Glab opined he would like to see the cost of the project recaptured from any prospective developer if possible. Motion by Wimmer, seconded by Glab, to direct Staff to pursue construction of a sidewalk along the west side of Green Street from the Municipal Center to Miller Road, in an amount not to exceed $5,000. All ayes. :'Vlotion carried. Sidewalk on the North Side of Anne Street Chairman Bolger stated Anne Street residents have inquired about the possibility of sidewalk installation in their neighborhood. Staff expressed concern with drainage issues if sidewalks are installed. Alderman Glab opined he would support c�nstruction of sidewalks in the area following a drainage study. It was the consensus of the Committee to direct Staff to explore the cost of an engineering study specifically regarding drainage, in anticipation of installation of sidewalks on Anne Street. � Adjournment Motion by Wimmer, seconded by Glab, to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m. All Ayes.
