�" HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION MEETING
TUESDAY, JUNE 26, 2001
Meeting was called to order at 7:07 P.M. The following members were present: Sue
Becker, Linda Wolff, Aubrey Coursin, Gail Wolfineyer, and Patricia Buhrman.
Absent: Gwen Doolan and Rev. Julie Babenko.
Old Business
Our two retiring student commissioners, Aubrey Coursin and Gail Wolfineyer were
honored for their service on the commission. They both received a framed certificate.
Wolff made a motion that each of the five areas addressed as goals wifl be
managed by individual members who solicit help or cooperation of other
commissioners. Motion seconded by Wolfineyer. Motion carries unanimously.
Buhrman reported that the Illinois State Legislature will be holding public hearings at
McHenry County College on September 20 regarding drivers license identification. The
commission supports these public hearings.
�- We will need to recruit two new student members.
New Business
Buhrman described a new program that Doolan proposed. A tutoring/maundering
program for students of all ages at Garden Quarter apartments. Tutors and mentors to
be recruited from members of the business community, and adult members of our
community. Buhrman has spoken with the mayor and various school officials. Wolff
made motion to continue to research this program. Motion seconded by Coursin.
Motion carries unanimously.
Motion made by Wolfineyer to adjourn at 7:40 P.M. Motion seconded by Coursin.
