CITY OF McHENRY
CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
Dear Steve:
Ststlon One
3610 W.Elm Street
McHenry, tsooso Please let this letter memorialize our conversation with regards to the planned
ets-sas-oos Millennium Fireworks. As Fire Chief,I will not commit to having any
scatloorwo ambulance or fire apparatus on standby at the fireworks on the late evening
3710 Wiimot Road December 31, 1999. Because we are not a full time department,I cannot
McHenry, isooso require our personnel to be at any location at any one time. With your plans
eis-sas-ioo better than one year in advance I will not ask our people to commit for that
stetoo night
809 Rand Road
McHenry,IL 60050
815-385-2525 Steve,as you know this is a once in a lifetime thing and I want our members to
have the freedom to do what they want to do with their families. As your plans
start to develop we may in fact have members who will be attending. However,
I don't have that guarantee and I think you should proceed with your plans
without the services of the Fire District for that night. If we can be of any
assistance during any other events you have for that weekend or during the year
we will be more than happy to help. I hope you understand our position.
Very truly yours,
MCHERNY FIRE TOWNSHIP FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

1,998 «,9 ON-S1TE DEMONSTRATtON tNFORMATION LETTER
iltank you fir your inquiry regarding an on-site ice sculpture demonstration from Nadeau's!ce Sculptures.
Nadeau's can provide almost everything needed to carve two or more blocks of ice. Our sculptor
arrives approximately 20 minutes prior to the start and wi(I need to pull up to the demo site to unload
the ice and his tools_ Each block carved will take approximately one hour. Because you are getting
not only a beautiful Creetion, but also a fun and entertaining show, you can create any design
that you would like to have carved.
Afong with the demonstration, you will receive another full block of ice, pre-SCulpted into an appropriate
seasonat design of our choie. ThaYs like geuing 3 ice carvings for the price of 2±±
We wiN also send 24 "ZOo Cubes"with each order. (20o Cubes are small blocks of ice with little zoo
anima(s irozen inside.) These area great souvenir to distribute to spectators. Extra '20o Cubes"are
also ava+lable for a price of 51.50 each, sold in multiples of 12. You also may purchase smafl blocks of
ice, weighig approximatey 10 pounds each for individual carving. These cost$3.00 eacn and are soid in
muliiples of 24. They have proven to be great crowd entertainment for those Want•To-Be Liftle and
Big Ice Carvers. We do nof supply any toos fnr this presentation.

if you require any extra fui!blocks of iCe to be Carved at the same time and IoCdtion f the demonstration.
they will be sculpted on site for an additional charge of$175.00 per block_ If the event is to be held
indoors and alt parties agree to the additional needs and circumstances that this type of demo presents,
theres an added charge of$200.00.
What wiil be needed by your organization for an outside demo is a level, stantioned area of
approximately 20 feet square to keep our curious little(and big)ones away while the chain saw and
chisels are being used. The carver will not bea;n unfil the area is secured. We will also need a
source of ppwer within fifteen fieet of where we are carving. If your ouUet is further away, please let us
know so we can plan accordingly. Atso, if the demo is being held in ihe evening, please be sure the
area is well lit for the pleasure and safety of boih the carver and the spectators, and if you are expecting a
large crowd, risers are helpful to elevate the carver and make the demonStfaUon more visible for a!(.
The cost of an ou i , two block demonstration is S595.00 January thu October and $795.00 in
November and DeCember_ There is also an additional delivery zone Charge [o McHery of$120.00 n
November and Oecember and S60.00 January thru October. These fees are due pnor to the event.
If for some reason the event would need to be cancelled or postponed by either party, due fo scheduling
conflicts or inclement weather, (and with our seasons, you can never telt)we would appreciate a 24 hour
notice. Thefe will be a ful refund given upon cancellation with notice. And remember, if a dem0 does nOt
fit in your schedule or budget, we have also included some ideas for pre-carved iCe Sculptures.
f hope this fs helpful in your planning. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call.
