Millennium Committee Report Thursday, June 3, 1999 7:00 PM Attendees: Chairman Steven Cuda, Joyce Story, Val Hobson, and Marci Geraghty. Also present was Patricia Buhrman, Chair of the Human Relations Commission. Update: ■ Patricia Buhrman spoke to the Committee regarding the Human Relations Commission's desire to include "The McHenry Pledge" that the Commission developed with the Millennium Celebration. After much discussion, it was decided by the Committee not to incorporate "The McHenry Pledge" into the Millennium Celebration weekend. An article from the June 23, 1999 Northwest Herald regarding the Commission's request is attached for your review. ■ Chairman Cuda has an appointment to meet with the McHenry County Quilt Club July 1, 1999. He will speak to them about the possibility of creating a Millennium Quilt. Contact has been made with Protoproduction Company for construction of the case for the Sesquicentennial Quilt. This same company designed the case for the "Barn Quilt" displayed in the McHenry County Government Center. ■ Banner Contest - A copy of the article in the "Neighbors" section of the Northwest Herald depicting the contest winners is attached. Inquiries are being made for development of the banners. ■ A copy of an article from the McHenry Township Newsletter Summer 1999 about a Millennium photo contest the County Historic Preservation Commission and the Chicago Tribune are cosponsoring is attached. ■ The McHenry Area Chamber printed an article in their last newsletter describing the Millennium Celebration. In it, the Committee thanks and acknowledges the generosity of all corporate sponsors to date. Since that article was printed, we have received $1,250 in donations! Page Two ■ Millennium Praise Celebration — A second letter was mailed to McHenry Area Churches reminding them of the Millennium Praise Celebration scheduled for January 2, 2000.
