Aldermen's Conference Room, 6:30 p.m.
In Attendance: Cammittee Members: Chairrxian Alderman Murgatroyd, Alderman
Schaefer and.4lderman Peterson. Absent: None.
Also in Attendance: Ma.yor Low, City Administrator M�einer, Deputy City Administrator
Martin, Assistant City Administrator Hobson, Director of Finance Black and City Clerk Jones.
Chairman Alderman Murgatroyd called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m.
Fiscal Year 2407/2008 Budget-Continaed
Finance Director Black explained, pursuant to the Committee's request, certain Police
Department line items together with a revenue item of$15,000 from a grant for lighting and
streets. Finance Director Black stated that the General Fund is in balance.
Alderman Peterson opined it appears to be a good budge for 2007/2008. Alderman Schaefer
concuned with Alderman Peterson.
Chairman Alderman Murgatroyd stated the Bud�et is a plannin� tool to assist Council with
revenues and expenses. He informed Staff that it is Council's intention to closely peruse any
requests outside of budgeted items.

Alderman Schaefer inquired about grants that might be available to the City. City Administrator
Maxeiner explained the�rant process to the Committee. He advised that due to the condition of
the State's budget it is unlikely that any grants are available.
Chairman Alderman Murgatroyd suggested Council and Staff begin now to research some
revenue sources that might be available that could ena.ble the City to address some of the CII'
items in the coming year.
Alderman Schaefer complimented Staff on their work on the Fiscal Year 2007/2008 Budget.
Finance Director Black informed the Committee that the final budget would include budget
narratives regarding each department.
Addressing an inquiry from Alderman Schaefer, City Administrator M�einer advised that until
home rule is established the City is requi�ed to follow state statutes.
Motion by Schaefer, seconded by Peterson, to recommend the Fiscal Year 2007/2008
Budget to full c;ouncil, as presented, for approval.

Absent: None.
