MINUTES: FINANCE CONIlKITTEE NIEETING
February 28, 1994

Members Present: Chairman Locke, Aldermen Bates and Bolger.
Others Present:: Mayor Cuda, Alderman Lawson, City Administrator
Peterson.
The February 28, 1994 meeting of the Finance Committee was called to
order by Chairman Locke at 7:02 P.M. Chairman Locke stated the meeting
would be held in Executive Session, as wage and benefit requests from the
various employee group representatives would be discussed.
The Committee reviewed the memo prepared by the City Administrator as
well as the written requests received for wage and benefit considerations
by the various employee groups. Chairman Locke asked members Bates and
Bolger for their thoughts in general about the current City-provided wage
and benefit packages in light of the requests received. Alderman Bolger
stated he felt the current level of wages and benefits are good and that
he sees only slight modifications, if any, are needed. Alderman Bates
agreed with Alderman Bolger and indicated he feels the level of benefits
received by employees are adequate.
Discussion ensued about the cutbacks which are taking place in the
private sector and the much publicized loss of employment as part of
corporate restructuring. Considerable discussion about the salary matrix
and sick day policy followed. Following the discussion, the Committee

Increase Boot allowance for WWTP Employees No
Contribute $50 toward employee physical No
Add others to funeral leave No, employee group to specify
