HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 2/28/1994 - Finance and Personnel Committee Ezecutive Session MINUTES: FINANCE CONIlKITTEE NIEETING February 28, 1994 � Members Present: Chairman Locke, Aldermen Bates and Bolger. Others Present:: Mayor Cuda, Alderman Lawson, City Administrator Peterson. The February 28, 1994 meeting of the Finance Committee was called to order by Chairman Locke at 7:02 P.M. Chairman Locke stated the meeting would be held in Executive Session, as wage and benefit requests from the various employee group representatives would be discussed. The Committee reviewed the memo prepared by the City Administrator as well as the written requests received for wage and benefit considerations by the various employee groups. Chairman Locke asked members Bates and Bolger for their thoughts in general about the current City-provided wage and benefit packages in light of the requests received. Alderman Bolger stated he felt the current level of wages and benefits are good and that he sees only slight modifications, if any, are needed. Alderman Bates agreed with Alderman Bolger and indicated he feels the level of benefits received by employees are adequate. Discussion ensued about the cutbacks which are taking place in the private sector and the much publicized loss of employment as part of corporate restructuring. Considerable discussion about the salary matrix and sick day policy followed. Following the discussion, the Committee `'' agreed to recommend the following: Waae or Benefit xecommendation Wages 3.0% ad3ustment to salary matrix Personal Days No change Holidays No change Sick Days No change Vacation Time No change Water Fountain Obtain purchase and installation costs Reinstate Christmas Bonus No Consider 10-hour day/4 day week No Direct Payroll Deposit Yes Share in cost of water/coffee service No Increase Boot allowance for WWTP Employees No Contribute $50 toward employee physical No Add others to funeral leave No, employee group to specify request Employee recognition dinner Consider City to pay dependent vision and dental premiums No Ad�ust Detective Sergeants pay matrix Need comments from Chief Joyce Ad�uste Lieutenant pay matrix Need comments from Chief Joyce Ad�ust Junior Clerk pay matrix - Martenson Open � Adjust Senior Clerk pay matrix - Lang-Rushing Open There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
