Shore Drive McHenry, IL. 60050 Dear Mr. & Mrs. Buhrman: I am in receipt of your letter dated April 25, 1989 regarding water hookup to your above premises. When the City purchased the Lakeland Park later Company, it purchased only the assets of the company, not the liabilities. I can sympathize with your problem, but the City can not assume the liability of promises made by others many years ago. I 'm sorry, but you wili have to pay the Capital Development Fee and the hook-on fee when and if you connect to the City's water. , Sincerely, Milliam J. Bus Mayor WJS/3m - - . . , V . April 25 , 1989 - , Barbara Gilpin . City Cler of McHenry 1111 N. Gren St. McHenry I11 . 60050 Dear Mrs . Gilpin , In 1975 , when we purchased ur Froperty at 478 `1. Shor r. w << rcWised by P^r_ c `;;• " c^;r,ts officials , i' we would join the City of McHenry our sewer hoo'.c-up fee r,ould be waived , and the Matthews Water Co. , would have to provide us with water service when we requested it, since we have a recorded shallow well . At that time there were numerous lot owners in I,akeland Fark that had been assessed for the sewers but had not paid , ( including our seller) . We oaid the past due assessment and continued paying until our sewer bill was paid in full . 'e asked the city for annexation. We were granted the annexation, and the citr provided us with the sewer hook-up with no Yees attached . Not having any well problems we r.ver pursue3 the water hook-up. In talking with representativPs oY the water company we were assured they had to grant us water hook-up to their stubs at our property line. Since the city turchased the Matthews Water Co . , the commitments granted to us should be honored by the Fresent water supplier. We do not believe we should be required to pay any caital development or hook-up Pees . `le are being assessed for this service via our sewer bill , we + shoul be able to fully participate in this service . The city should honor this agreement and provide us with the necessary hook-up. As community volunteers , and taxpayers for the last fourteee years we do not feel we are asking more than was promised us . Thank you for your consideration.
