Re: Elevator Inspections , Etc.
Dear Mike:
The BOCA Basic Building Code , which is part of our
building ordinance in the City of McHenry , contains a
comprehensive Article pertaining to the installation and
maintenance of elevators and related types of hoist
equipment . The office of the Building Official is
responsible for the implementation and enforcement of those
provisions . Andy ' s request for authority to hire a
consultant in this special area, on an as-needed basis , to
enable him to give meaning and effect to those elevator
provisions in the ordinance , is therefore appropriate and �
prudent . If standing authority is to be delegated to Andy
to retain such consultants , it should be spread on the
Council minutes in the form of a motion granting such
authority.
