MINUTES SEPTEMBER 4, 2001
THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:17 PM BY CHAIRPERSON GREG
LOFGREN AT THE MUNICIPAL CENTER. MEMBERS PRESENT INCLUDED: JUDY
FRANKS, DAWN JOHNSON, GREG LOFGREN, HANK NELL, PAT SCHAFER,
GRETCHEN THOMAS, SHELLY TROST, AND LORI WILHELM. MEMBERS ABSENT:
MERLE JANSSEN AND ILENE WIEDEMANN GUEST PRESENT: SUE HENDRICKSON
AND KAREN JAMES.
HANK NELL MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 7, 2001
MEETING. SHELLY TROST SECONDED THE MOTION. NO DISCUSSION WERE
NOTED, THERE WERE SOME TYPING ERRORS, AND THE MOTION CARRIED.
GREG LOFGREN REPORTED THAT THE BALANCE IN THE GENERAL FUND STANDS
AT $3,489.68. EXPENSES REPORTED WERE AS FOLLOWS: MINUTEMAN
PRESS-$18.32 AND ED'S RENTAL-$22.50. THESE EXPENSES WERE INCURRED FOR
FAMILY HERITAGE DAYS, JUNE 23-24, 2001. ( GREG NEEDS TO CHECK WITH CITY
CONCERNING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER BUDGET.) THE
FACADE GRANT BUDGET STANDS AT $12,800.00. LORI WILHELM MOVED TO
ACCEPT THE BUDGET REPORT, PAT SCHAFER SECONDED THE MOTION, AND THE
MOTION CARRIED.
THERE IS STILL SURVEY WORK TO DO ON WAUKEGAN AND MAIN STREETS.
GREG AND SHELLY PICKED DATES OF SEPTEMBER 17 AND 19 TO MAKE A TAPE
OF SURVEY PROCEDURES. SEVERAL MEMBERS INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD
BE INTERESTED IN GOING ALONG. ONCE A TIME IS SELECTED MEMBERS WILL
BE CALLED. ONCE THIS PROCEDURE IS DONE THE COMMISSION SHOULD
CONTINUE WITH SURVEY WORK. GREG WILL BRING SURVEY FOLDERS TO
GRETCHEN THOMAS.
DATES OF SEPTEMBER 25, 27, AND 29 (TUESDAY, THURSDAY, AND SATURDAY
RESPECTIVELY) WERE PICKED FOR POSSIBLE ALDERMAN TOURS OF THE MAIN
STREET AREA.
THE COMMISSION WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH WHEN THE SIDING ON THE
PRESENT STRUCTURE AT THE CORNER OF GREEN AND JOHN STREETS COMES
OFF. THE COMMISSION WILL BE INTERESTED IN LOOKING AT THE INTERIOR
WALL CONSTRUCTION.
GREG LOFGREN STATED THAT THE PRESERVATION CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD
IN SPRINGFIELD, SEPTEMBER 13-15, 2001. HE PASSED OUT THE CONFERENCE
INFORMATION. GREG STATED HE WOULD INVESTIGATE THE PORTABLE
MICROPHONE WHILE AT THE CONFERENCE. HANK NELL MADE A MOTION TO
PAY EXPENSES FOR THOSE ATTENDING THE PRESERVATION CONFERENCE,
WITHIN REASON. DAWN JOHNSON SECONDED THE MOTION AND THE MOTION
CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
GREG LOFGREN WILL CHECK WITH THE CITY TO SEE IF THE FACADE GRANT
APPLICATION FOR CINNAMON CREEK ON RIVERSIDE DRIVE HAS BEEN
RESUBMITTED. THE COMMISSION FELT THAT THE APPLICATION WAS NOT
PROPERLY COMPLETED.
DAWN JOHNSON HAS BEGUN INVESTIGATING THE PURCHASE OF A DIGITAL
CAMERA. SHE REVIEWED SOME DIFFERENT TYPES OF CAMERAS AND SOME
PRICES. SHE WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE THE COMMISSION IN FUTURE
MONTHS.
LORI WILHELM MOVED FOR ADJOURNMENT AT 8:10PM, PAT SCHAFER SECONDED
THE MOTION, AND THE MOTION CARRIED.
