HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 2/1/2000 - Landmark Commission LANDMARK COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES February 1, 2000 In absence of Chairperson Lofgren the regular meeting of the Landmark Commission was called to order by Nancy, at 7:21 p.m. at the McHenry Municipal Building. Members present were: Dawn Johnson, Merle Janssen, Hank Nell, Shelly Trost, and Lori Wilhelm. Members absent: Richard Kratochvil, Greg Lofgren, Robert Novak, Patricia Schaefer, and Gretchen Thomas MINUTE APPROVAL Motion by Nell, seconded by Johnson to approve the January 4, 2000 meeting minutes as presented. Voting Aye: Fike, Janssen, Johnson, Nell, Trost, and Wilhelm Voting Nay: None Absent: Kraochvil, Lofgren, Novak, Schafer, and Thomas Motion carried. TREASURER'S REPORT The Treasurer's Report was presented and reviewed. Motion by Nell, seconded by Wilhelm to place the Treasurer's Report on record. Voting Aye: Fike, Janssen, Johnson, Nell, Trost, and Wilhelm Voting Nay: None Absent: Janssen, Kratochvil, Novak, Thomas, and Thomas Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS Certified City Program- Acting Chairperson Nancy Fike asked all attending members to fill out and submit the required resume form for application to the Certified City designation. Historical Architectural Survey- Acting Chairperson Fike noted Commission Member Trost has completed the survey forms as well as the `.., property picture match, for most of the Green Street Business District. Landmark Commission Minutes February 1, 2000 Page Two Commission Member Wilhelm noted Landmark Commission Member identification badges would be completed and provided members. It was noted members while compiling their survey information should wear these badges. Some discussion followed regarding the lack of landmark plaguing opportunities. It was noted the historic remains of the Eppel/Thompson home were removed on Wednesday, January 26th. NEW BUSINESS Logo Development- As logo samples were not provided by the City Clerk's Office no action was taken. Demolition Notice/801 Mill Street-Acting Chairperson Fike will provide a written history on the property and structure in question. Commission Members Janssen and Wilhelm have viewed the structure. ANY AND ALL OTHER BUSINESS Some discussion followed regarding the feasibility of hosting an informational slide show of old McHenry. It was the consensus of the committee to offer refreshments and schedule the presentation for March. Commission Member Trost offered to handle the publicity. Acting Chairperson Fike will present this information to Chairperson Lofgren for follow-up. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Trost to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m. Voting Aye: Fike, Janssen, Johnson, Trost and Wilhelm Voting Nay: Nell Absent: Kraochvil, Novak, Schafer and Thomas Motion carried.
