September 6 , 1994
The regular meeting of the McHenry Landmark Commission
`... was brought to order at 7 : 20 pm at the McHenry Municipal
Center by Vice Chairman Larry Huck. Present were
Carol Jean Smith, Lori Wilhelm, Donnabelle Glosson,
Marya Dixon, Tom Bolger, Debbie Lane , Ruth Fenwick.
Absent were Barb Byron and Adele Froehlich.
MINUTES
There were no corrections to the August 2nd meeting.
Marya read the minutes of the August 3th meeting of
the City Council reporting that Alderman Bates had
attended the Landmark meeting . He directed the Alderman
to become familiar with the Display Boxes and asked the
staff to look into our request for locked storage space.
He also talked to John Lobaito about looking into the
falling aluminum awning on Green St.
FINANCIAL REPORT
City of McHenry Landmark Commission as of May 1st hap
$3000 . 00 in their account . As of 8-18-94 we have a total
of $1955 . 34 . Since our budget is so low at this time,
Carol Jean will be present at the next City Council Meeting,
asking the members if they would defray the cost of the
,� promot.ional display boxes . Our understanding was the cost
of the boxes was to come out of last years budget since the
work on them was started before our new fiscal year. Jean
made the motion to ask the city to defray the cost of the
display boxes , 2nd by Marya.
There was a question on the $4 . 00 paid to McHenry Specialties.
It was appoved to paid $20 .00 to the McHenry County Historical.
Society for our membership dues for the 94-95 year.
The Facade Improvements Savings Account $3237 . 60 .
FACADE GRANT PROGRAM
Tom, Debbie and Jean will set up a meeting to go over
and work on the revision of the Facade improvement grant
form.
TRADE FAIR
The MCHenry Trade Fair is set for October 22nd and 23th.
Debbie Lane will take some of our forms , literature and etc.
and set up a small display at the City Booth. Jean will
make a sign for this display. Debbie will take it down at
the end of the fair.
MISCELLANEOUS
Lori has received a letter from Mr. Dodds about the remolding
of Edgebrook School . Mr. Dodds stated that the new addition
to the school would be in keeping with the charater and design.
He invited Lori to come and view the architectural drawings.
`- Lori said she would do this as soom as possible .
We were all asked to go by the Knox home on Waukegan Rd.
to see if this house would be eligible for a certifate
of appreciation.
A certifate will be presented to Mr. David Howard for the
improvements on the Frank Gans home on Riverside Dr.
Jean sent a letter to the new owners of the property at 1511
Richmond Rd. congratulating them on the purchase of this home,
and telling them that the Landmark commission would help if
needed.
We received notice from Mr. Mike Ward stating that before he
can come and do a program for us we must have some kind of and
ordiance on the books , this is a priority that the commission
must work on immediately.
An application for Plaguing has been received from the McHenry
Church of God. This building at one time was the Zion Luthern
Church, which has much history. Jean will set up a viewing to
see the church with the pastor for October 4th at 6 : 45 pm.
Jean will type up a new Fact Sheet on the creation of the
Landmark Commission to set out at the city Hall and to
take to the trade fair etc .
Debbie Lane will take the minutes for the Oct . 4th meeting
for Marya, as she will be out of town. Thanks very much Debbie .
A motion to ajourn the meeting was made by Marya and seconded
by Debbie . The meeting was ajourn at 8 : 45 p.m.
