THE CITY OF MCHENRY LANDMARK COMMISSION
December 7, 1993

Administration The regular meeting of the McHenry Landmark Commission was brought
(815)363-2100 to order at 7:30 p.m. at the McHenry Municipal Center. Members
FAX:(815)363-2119 present were: Tom Bolger, Marya Dixon, Donnabelle Doherty, Adele
Public Works, Froehlich, Carl . Fredrickson, Ruth Fenwick, Carol Jean Smith, and
Building and Zoning Lori Wilhelm. Reverend Phyllis Mueller and Barbara Byron were

Parks and
Recreation MINUTES
(815)363-2160 There was discussion on minutes being recorded and transcribed by
Police someone other than Chris Newman. She declined further minute taking
(Non-Emergency) due to time consuming hours. Marya Dixon was asked to take over
(815)363-2200 transcribing the minutes. Marya Dixon aacepted.
PLAQUE PROGRAM
Mayor Lori raises question on qualifications on architectural and/or
.•ven J.Cuda
historical significance. After much discussion to change the
City Clerk criteria of architectural significance to 15 points from 20 points;
Barbara E.Gilpin and historical significance from 25 points to 20 points. Carol Jean
Treasurer suggested to change the age for qualification of pl acqui ng a
Lillian Cairns building from 75 years to 70 years. Tom Bolger moved to change
Aldermen criteria and get updated criteria from the County. It was further
discussed that Carol Jean, Ruth, and Marya will study County
WARD1 criteria and recommend changes for our City plaguing criteria and
William J.Bolger also review definition of terms. It will be advised that No. 4 of
WARD2 the Plaque Criteria will be changed in the draft prepared by the
Terence W.Locke Committee. Carol Jean, Ruth, and Marya will make up a draft with
WARD3 all changes to be presented for consideration at the February
Gregory C.Bates meeting.
WA SWEATSHIRTS

Lori asked for a financial report from Donnabelle. Donnabelle
WARDS advised that she had not received one from the City but will get one
William V.Baird at a later date. Lori stated that we have $1 ,054 in sweatshirts,
tee-shirts, etc. She stated that sales are going well at this
time. We will reorder at a later date.
WORKSHOPS
Comments were brought up about having a meeting and a workshop
meeting per month. Discussion was held and no decision was made.
This will be discussed at the next meeting. A discussion was held
\., ' about replacing inactive members. This will be discussed at the
next meeting.

MISCELLANEOUS
A history book on the Wheeler-Bauer farm was donated by Roman Bauer
to the Landmark Commission for our files.
Marya Dixon wrote letters to Barbara Gilpin and Mayor Steve Cuda
asking them to attend a meeting at their convenience.
Mr. Peterson gave the Landmark Commission old pictures of structures
and people. Carol Jean will put them on slides. We will use them
for the Commission's slide production.
The Landmark Commission thanked Lori for bringing in cookies and
apple cider for our Christmas meeting.
Also, a BIG thank you to Christine Newman for her hard work and
time in the preparation of the Landmark Commission minutes.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. The motion was made by Adele
and seconded by Ruth.
