Carl asked the members if we need a letter of resignation from Rev. Phyllis Mueller. It is required. Carl said that he would contact Jerry Peterson to inquire about carrying over the $52.00 as a free standing fund. ILLINOIS PRESERVATION CONFERENCE Carl stated that the dates of the conference were June 3 - 5th. If anyone would like to attend, please let Carl know. DEMOLITION Tom reported that the house at 1618 N. Richmond Rd. was the Meyer farm. It was purchased from the John Meyer family by Maurice Gladstone in the early forties. Tom said he went into the building and figures the house was built before the 1900's. It could be over 100 years old. The house is well built and could be moved although the asbestos siding is a problem. Tom checked with three movers, one of which was Rick Bott, who said the house is probably from 1865-1885. He was not interested in salvage. Tom said he sent another letter to the City building office and asked for more time. He said if we publicize it and can find someone interested in moving it, that Target will wait 45 days before the demolition. Tom said we will put anyone interested in touch with Target. Carl wondered whether we would be liable for asbestos violation in this instance. DEMOLITION ORDINANCE Carl suggested that we should establish a new focus on the Facade Improvement Grant now that we have a new Mayor. With our new members on the Building Commission perhaps we can get our demolition ordinance passsed. We need to ask Barb Gilpin what steps to take. Jean said we can't do that because we have so few people applying for it. Carl said he would have copies made of the Grant Program for us to review. We could decide what areas of the business community should be eligible. Jean made a motion that we redefine the Grant Program with limits to the historic downtown areas. We should develop a map to indicate these special areas. Jesse seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Carl stated that changes in the Grant Program should be tied to our request of the City to permit us to establish a Stand Alone Fund since this money would support the grants. COUNTY HIST. SOCIETY FAIR: JUNE 27, 1993 10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Carl suggested that we should be involved with a booth. Our fire maps would be on display. Lori suggested that we have sweatshirts printed with her drawing of Landmark School and lettering pertaining to the 100th anniversary. These could be sold throughout the summer and certainly next year. Carl said we should check with Nancy Fike. A motion was made that we do this by Barb Byron, seconded by Jean Smith, and passed. LANDMARK SCHOOL PLAQUING Lori reported that she received a letter from Scott Josephs, a fifth grade student at Landmark School stating that he would like to help to get the ball rolling on the plaguing of the school . The members agreed that this would be a great way to do it, (through a student to the school board). Lori said she would get an application and a history to him and help him accomplish this. FALL PROGRAM Jean said she would like to have a date set for our fall program as soon as possible. Motion to adjourn at 8:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Lori Wilhelm Secretary
