Members Parks and present were: Donnabelle Doherty, Adele Doherty, Adele Froehlich, Recreation Tom Hopkins, Jean Smith, and Lori Wilhelm. (815)363-2160 Police The minutes were read and approved as written. (Non-Emergency) (815) 363-2200 GUEST INRODUCTION Mr. Rick McGrath (a member of the the McHenry County Preservation Commission) was introduced by Tom Hopkins. Tom asked Mr. McGrath what his position on the commission was. He said the old house Mayor support group is his main work right now. This group was organized `..dilliam J. Busse by the County Commission to bring together owners of old homes and City Clerk to share information on renovation and maintenance. They have had a Barbara E. Gilpin good response of 20 to 50 people at their meetings. One other subject is to help to explore the history of their houses. Mr. Treasurer McGrath said he would like to establish a monthly meeting with the Lillian Cairns mayors of the County. Tom related to him our endeavors to get a demolition ordinance passed by our City. We expressed a desire to Aldermen be involved in their programs and to be of help when we can. WARD 1 William J. Bolger FINANCE Toni Donahue Tom reported that Barb Gilpin informed him that we have $3,000 WARD 2 budgeted for our work instead of the $2,000 we thought we had. We Gary W. Lieder have as of Aug. 31 , 1992, spent $767.67. Terence W. Locke WARD 3 HOUSE IN JOHNSBURG Raymond Smith The large old house at 4107 Wilmot Rd. in Johnsburg has been DennisL. Adams purchased and is being rehabbed by a church group representing the WARD 4 Michael Joseph Foundation. It will be restored to a single family Cecilia Serritella home and will be occupied by the Carrick family and their 14 Randy Patterson children. We will be interested to see what the rehab will look like. L. PUBLIC MEETINGS Jean reported that she sent 20 invitations to old time residents and was getting some good responses. Articles will be submitted to the papers and the City newsletter. A tentative date of October 25 was set. Jean suggested that a program on the East could be done in the Spring. Adele said we should be thinking about the 100 year anniversary of Landmark School . Tom suggested that we work with the school on this. It was agreed that the school should be plagued. A motion was made by Jean and seconded by Donnabelle that something be paid to Scott Wilhelm for the printing that he is doing for us. It was passed. FUNDRAISING Tom asked the members if we had any ideas for fundraisers. It was suggested that we have a raffle at the spring program with a first, second, and third prize. One might be a house portrait. Tom suggested that we ask the bank for salvage rights to the Hansen House. The wide pine floor boards are quite desirable to builders. AWARDS PROGRAMS Tom said we could establish a Mayor's award for some exceptional renovation job. PLAQUING \-- Discussion was held on encouraging people to apply for plaguing. TRADE FAIR Tom stated that our participation at the fair was good and that we should plan for it next year. NEXT MEETING Tom said we will spend some time at our next month's meeting planning the agenda for the West Side Program. He will have a draft on next year's agenda of events.
