NEWSLETTER
The commission agrees that information on the availability of the
Sanborn Maps should be published in the newsletter as well as the
information on the maps of corporated McHenry from 1893 to 1898,
1912, 1922, 1933, and 1948. Adele said she will put an article in
.. the newspaper along with informing the public that we have
information on moving and restoring buildings.
BUILDING OFFICER
Tom reported that John Lobaito (Building Director) was easy to get
along with and that he will meet with us soon.
PRESERVATION CONFERENCE
Tom reported that he had a very enjoyable and informative experience
at the conference. There were reception walking tours, a tour of
the downtown and the restoration of the riverfront. Next year it
will be held in Galena and we should all attend:
COMMISSION'S PLAN
Tom suggested that we set some goals for 1993 and come up with a
schedule to establish some committees.
Carl stated to the members that for personal reasons he doesn't have
much time to give to commission work. He suggested that he should
take a leave of absence or resign. The commission felt this was not
necessary. He should remain as a member and devote as much time as
he felt he could.
PUBLIC MEETING
Discussion was held on the idea of holding informal meetings with
the public who are interested in sharing photos and information of
what they remember of old McHenry. A time for these meetings was
suggested for next spring and again in the fall of 1993. Perhaps
the week after Easter and late fall of 1993. An eastside/westside
theme for a meeting was suggested. Jean volunteered to get programs
started and it was suggested we could get one ready for this fall .
Tom suggested that two programs per year were enough.
Adele reminded us that Landmark School will be 100 years old in 1994
and we should keep it in mind.
Jean said she sent a thank you to Anton Rebel for his efforts to
organize the clean up of Boone Creek. It was suggested that we send
some thanks from the commission.
Motion was made to adjourn at 8:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Lori Wilhelm
Secretary
