Prg. yr _ CITY OF MCHENRY LANDMARK COMMISSION Clerk's Office and MAY 5, 1992 Administration (815) 363-2100 FAX: (815) 363-2119 Public Works, The regular meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission was Building and Zoning brought to order at 7:30 p.m. at the McHenry Municipal Center. (815) 363-2170 Members present were: Marya Dixon, Donnabelle Doherty, Adele Parks and Froehlich, Jesse Freund, Marlene Goetschel , Tom Hopkins, Carl Recreation Fredrickson, Ruth Fenwick, Jean Smith, and Lori Wilhelm. (815)363-2160 Police The minutes were approved as read. (Non-Emergency) (815)363-2200 Tom Hopkins stated that the terms of Commissioners Marlene Goetschel , Jesse Freund, Ruth Fenwick, and himself were expiring. He asked if they wished to continue for another two year term. All said yes. Mayor `...Jilliam J. Busse FINANCIAL REPORT City Clerk Tom stated that the $94 earned from our Public Program will be put Barbara E. Gilpin into the general fund. Treasurer DEMOLITION UPDATES Lillian Cairns Tom suggested that the Simon Hansen House and the Whiting Farm Home should be advertised as available to be moved. Hopefully someone Aldermen will want to do that. Tom said someone is already interested in the WARD 1 Whiting Home (or Backhaus property). Adele said she will try to get William J. Bolger it in the Herald with pictures of each. The number of bedrooms Toni Donahue should be included with information. WARD 2 Gary W. Lieder SANDBORN FIRE MAPS Terence W. Locke We all agreed that the maps were a fine purchase and that they WARD 3 should be dry mounted to better preserve them. Raymond Smith Dennis L. Adams ILLINOIS PRESERVATION INFORMATION SERIES WARD4 Tom suggested that we purchase them to donate to the library. Jean CeciliaSerritella made a motion that we wait to donate them until a later date. It Randy Patterson was agreed. We will have them bound in some manner. The motion passed. PARK SERVICE BROCHURES Tom reported that he has a list of available brochures. He recommended the Preservation Briefs at $14 a set, moving Historic Buildings at $8.75 and tax incentives for rehabbers, total cost being about $65.00. There was a motion by Marlene to purchase all three, motion seconded by Carl and passed. PAGE 2 LANDMARK BUILDINGS PROGRAM The Commission members thanked Jean Smith for her extra effort in getting out the public for the program. She organized the program. Jean, Carl , and Tom were complimented on a job well done. After some discussion some of the suggestions were more pictures and some dialogue changes made on the buildings. It was suggested that we plan another similiar program. Perhaps we could have it next fall and call it the Cracker Barrel Get Together. BUILDING OFFICER The new building officer is John Lobaito. Tom will meet with him next month. ILLINOIS PRESERVATION CONFERENCE Tom will attend but no other member. FACT SHEET Jean asked permission to put together a brochure outlining facts on what the Landmark is and does. This to be available as handouts at the Chamber office. She received a go ahead. UPCOMING EVENTS Tom informed the members that the Barrington Historic House Walk will be May 31 from 11 :00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.00, $10.00 for advance tickets, and $5.00 for seniors. Other walks and tours were discussed. HISTORIC SURVEYS Jean passed out assignments for historic surveys to Ruth, Carl , and Marlene. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Election of officers for President, Vice-President, and Secretary were held for the coming year. Nominations were Tom for President, Carl for Vice-President, and Lori for Secretary. The vote was unanimous to elect all three candidates.
