THE CITY OF MCHENRY LANDMARK COMMISSION

FAX: (815)363-2119 The regular meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission was
Public Works, brought to order at 7:35 p.m. at the McHenry Municipal Center.
Building and Zoning Members present were: Marya Dixon, Donnabel l e Doherty, Adele
(815) 363-2170 Froehlich, Jesse Freund, Tom Hopkins, Barb Byron, Jean Smith, and
Parks and Lori Wilhelm.
Recreation
(815)363-2160 FINANCIAL REPORT
Police The report from the City Clerk states that we have $1532.98 as the
(Non-Emergency) balance in our account. The fiscal year ends May 1st. Actual
(815) 363-2200 expenditures of our general funds are from $513.30 to $331 .92.
SIMON-HANSEN HOUSE
Tom reported that he went to the County Courthouse to investigate
Mayor the Simon-Hansen House history and found that it was deeded to Mary
ft•.oVilliam J. Busse Weber in 1904. Tom put a notice in the City Newsletter about the
Cic Clerk house and it's present status.

TRADE FAIR
Treasurer Tom, Jean, and Carl reported that there was much interest in our
Lillian Cairns
picture display. It was suggested that if we do this next year we
need to be better organized with a schedule of workers.
Aldermen
WARD 1 BOOKLETS AND OTHER PRINTED INFORMATION
William J. Bolger Tom reported that he ordered booklets from the Illinois Preservation
Toni Donahue Council for handouts and we should have others. One source is the
WARD2 National Park Service. It was suggested that we should have some to
Gary W. Lieder donate to the library as reference material . Lori made a motion
Terence W. Locke that we purchase some. Marya seconded, and the motion passed
WARD 3 unanimously.
Raymond Smith
Dennis L. Adams HISTORICAL STRUCTURES PROGRAM
WARD 4 Jean Smith reported that seventy-five invitations were sent out to
CeciliaSerritella organizations, churches, schools, banks, and others. She said we
Randy Patterson will need histories on our plagued buildings. Tom asked that we be
there at 1 :30 p.m. to help set up. Barb Gilpin said that we could
use the City's coffee pot and cups. Our members should bring
refreshments. Handout sheets were passed out to members with the
request that they give them out to friends and relatives.

`" Tom stated that we will make copies of pictures of plagued buildings
which are missing from this survey to update their list.
WINNETKA ORDINANCE
Tom reported that he has received a copy of the Winnetka ordinance
and he will make copies to give us next month.
NEW BUILDING DIRECTOR
Tom said that a new Building and Zoning Director has been hired and
he will start April 20th. We will get together with him to tell him
what we would like from him.
ILLINOIS PRESERVATION CONFERENCE
The conference will take place in Peoria and Tom is planning to
attend. There are no other members going.
KNOX BARN
Jean reported that Barb Gilpin told her that the Knox Barn is being
used for storage and is probably filled to capacity. We should look
further into the possibility of it as a site for a fair.
HISTORIC SURVEY
Jesse passed out the plans for the survey for Main St. commercial
buildings which he would like to finish up. He asked the members to
sign up for those buildings which had not been spoken for.
Donnabelle asked that pictures be taken of buildings that were
missing from the overall City survey. Jean volunteered to do this.
NEW OFFICERS
Tom reminded everyone that next month we will be electing new
officers.
Adele made a motion to adjourn at 8:55 p.m.
