The treasurer ' s report indicated a total of $60 expended this fiscal Year beginning May 1 . Expenditures for the Heritage Tour and Farmer ' s Market have not yet been turned into City Hall . The main agenda item was discussion of the status of the Owen. House. An article about the property had appeared in this day' s issue of the Northwest Herald. The Owner had been contacted for the article, but refused any comment. Nancy Fike reviewed the history of the Landmark Commission ' s involvement for the guests present. According to City Officials , the property has become a public nuisance and dangerous , and the Owner has not complied with City requests to stabilize the structure and protect the public from possible harm. The City has discussed retaining a structural engineer to examine the property pursuant to comencing condemnation procedings . It was suggested that a member of the Commission accompany the engineer on his examination of the property if possible. Tom Hopkins volunteered to check with the City to find out if this would be possible and to ask if criteria had been established for the engineer ' s analysis . A motion was made by Lori Wilhelm, seconded by Don Porter to allow Tom Hopkins to have the option of retaining a second structural engineer if the City' s analysis criteria did not include restoration possibilities , at a maximum budget of $300 . The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Lori Wilhelm, seconded by Adele Froelich that a letter be sent to the City letting them know of verbal support for restoration labor and funding possibilities received by the Commission. The motion passed unanimously. Nancy Fike will draft the letter . Don Porter and DAvid Mohan volunteered to check into excavation work taking place at the rear of Sullivan' s Foods adjacent to the Owen property, and the purpose of the work. Jesse Freund reported that he had completed a few more building histories on Main Street. The Commission discussed the Heritage Tent at this year ' s Fiesta Days Art in the Park. Raffle ticket sales were lower than expected. It was suggested that the tent be located among the sidewalk sales on a main street next year, as the County Historical Museum has experienced better results in that location with their ticket sales . Raffle ticket sales to date are $230 for the quilt raffle at the fall Heritage Tour and Farmer' s Market.
