HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 4/3/1990 - Landmark Commission CITY OF MCHENRY LANDMARK COMMISSION �-' 3 APR I L 1990 The regular monthly meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark: Commission was called to order at 7 :30 P .M. Members present were Nancy Fike , Tom Hopkins , Marya Dixon , Lori Wilhelm , Adele Froelich , Jessie Freund , Frank Gans , Donna Belle Doherty , Marlene Goetschel , David Mohan , and Don Porter . Absent was Hank Nell . Guests were Wayne Steinmetz , Sue Cardamon , and Jean Smith . The Minutes of the previous meeting were approved . There was no financial report . Wayne Steinmetz attended the meeting to discuss his Facade Improvement Grant Application per the request of the Commission . He stated that the colors intended to be used were silver with black: accents for the portions to be painted , with white aluminum siding in the areas per the contractor's quote provided the previous month . The metal portions of the facade are to be washed with a high pressure water spray prior to painting . The colors and materials selected were discussed further with some questions as to the appropriateness by the Commission . Tom Hopkins made a motion , seconded by Lori Wilhelm to tentatively approve a grant of $1 ,500 , not to exceed 50 of the actual cost of the work , payable upon completion , for Riverside Drive facade improvements , subject to approval of color and material samples by the Commission , to be submitted by Mr . Steinmetz . Nancy Fike had written a letter to the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce requesting that they consider a matching grant program for the facade improvements . She had not received a response to date . A meeting of the Chamber Board of Directors had been scheduled for 4 :00 P.M. today . Tom Hopkins reported on progress with the proposed Demolition Ordinance . Tom and Nancy had met with the Building Committee of the City Council to discuss particulars and review the outline submitted . At the end of that meeting , Tom volunteered to draft an ordinance for discussion at a future meeting and subsequent public hearings and consideration by the City Council . Tom has begun drafting the ordinance , but does not expect to complete the draft for a couple months . David Mohan reported that he has not received a response from the City Council concerning his earlier letter proposing a monument at the new City Hall site . No new information has been received concerning the Owen house . :........ ,w :.. _ City of McHenry Landmark Commission , continued 3 April 1990 Fall Heritage Tour and Farmer's Market : no response has been received from the Packard Club as to whether they will display cars ; there are no firm commitments for houses for the tour , additional homeowners will be contacted to finalize the tour houses for next month 's meeting ; the quilt is progressing well , Marlene had it with her to show , raffle ticket sales should be started next month . There has been no information received from the School Board concerning plans for the use of Landmark School . Lori volunteered to monitor the situation . The meeting was adjourned at 8 :40 P.M .
