HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 1/2/1990 - Landmark Commission CITY OF MCHENRY LANDMARK COMMISSION 2 January 1990 The regular monthly meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission was called to order at 7 : 30 P.M. Members present were: Nancy Fike, Tom Hopkins, Marya Dixon, Lori Wilhelm, Adele Froelich, Jessie Freund, Donna Belle Doherty, Don Porter, and Jan Rinaer; absent were: Hank Nell, Frank Gans, Marlene Goetschel , and David Mohan. The Commission welcomed Jan Ringer as a new member. Nancy read letters sent by her ( representing the Landmark Commission) and Mayor Busse to the Charter Bank & Trust Co. in Hanover Park, trustees for the owner of the Owen property. No response has yet been received. According to Jessie Freund, Ed Malenius , the former owner, has information concerning planned development for the property and requests a meeting with Nancy. Nancy will contact him to arrange a time. The owners supposedly want to build apartments , although the property is zoned C-5 , Highway Commercial . Tom Hopkins read the letter sent to the Mayor and City Council recommending adoption of a demolition ordinance. The letter had been delivered to City Hall by Tom on December 27 . Tom will contact the Mayor to correct the typographical errors discovered, ask for his reaction, and to request the date on which the City Council will discuss the recomendation. The album which had been ordered for the scrapbook has arrived. No Facade Improvement Grant applications have been received to date. Nancy reminded the members of the Commission of the public program scheduled for next month ' s meeting. Nancy Baker, Vice president of the County Historical Society will present a slide program on the development of the Pistakee Bay area. Nancy suggested that she be paid a $50 fee for her efforts . Tom Hopkins made a motion to pay a $50 fee, seconded by Jessie Freund, with unanimous approval by the Commission. Lori Wilhelm and Marya Dixon asked for suggestions for houses to be included on the Fall Heritage Tour. Five suggestions were made, and the owners will be contacted by members of the Commission.
