It will be recomended to the City Council for final approval . The Fiesta Days tent was discussed. A good crowd was on hand. It was suggested that next year we have more information to hand out concerning how to research your house. At the request of the Mayor, Tom Hopkins and Nancy Fike looked at the Owen House exterior to report to him on the condition. it was determined that the house appeared to be structurally sound from the exterior, although much water damage is visible and the foundation is beginning to deteriorate. It will not survive much longer without major work being done. The property is apparently still involved in bankruptcy. The Chicago Tribune is preparing a story on the house. The structure will have to be watched, members were urged to write letters to the Editor and possibly prepare petitions to save the structure. Also, rumors have begun concerning demolition of the Justen house, which will also have to be watched. Nancy delivered plaque applications and information to the School Dist. office (Dan DeRouche) for Landmark School , and offered assistance on researching the structure. Mr. DeRoche expressed interest in awarding the plaque on the day of the Heritage Fair . The application would have to be submitted quickly for this to occur. Tickets for the Heritage Fair house tour and raffle were distributed to members for selling. Lori Wilhelm reported on the status of the Heritage Fair preparations . Promotion will be needed to begin soon. 200 posters will be ready for distribution on August 20, and 1000 fliers .
