Members• in attendance were; Nancy Fike, Toni Hopkins, Dick Rabbitt, Hank Nell, Mara Weber Dixon, Lori Wilhelm, Mary Lou Schaffer, Adele Froelich, Jesse Freund. Frank Gans. Absent; Kristin Parneali, Marlene- Goetschel. Donna Belle Doherty. Financial Report $602-.58 Ten guests were present. Nancy Fike gave a short history of the Ldndraark Commission stating the procedure of plaguing homes and structures, and, the process. of evaluating in order for a home or structure to be plagued. She went on to explain that the City of McHenry has no ordinance that a home or structure cannot be altered in any way. Information of the Facade Improvement Grant to encourage businesses to apply for a grant to improve their buildings- was; also explained. In completing in talk Nancy spoke of the programs especially the Heritage Tour• and Farmers Market that will take place Sunday September 17th. Bill Day spoke on the history of the F.K. Granger structure the present site of Christopher's- Men's Store and presented the application for plaguing of the building. The Commission will): meet on July llth at 7:00 P.M. prior to the regular meeting at Christopher's Men's Store to observe the building for the- purpose •.- of voting on the plaguing of the structure. The budget for the 1989-90 year was approved. The Owen property of Waukegan Street has. been sold, and discussion took place on what can be done to preserve• this home, a- truly historical home in the city. The Landmark Preservation Conference will be held June 22-25 in Evanston. Tom Hopkins will attend this conference. Lori Wilhelm reported on the Heritage Tour and passed out a flyer giving all the information on the Second Annual Heritage Tour and Farmers Market which will be held on Sunday September 17th from 11 to 4:30. Entertainment has been secured. but more3 is needed for the last two hours. Tom Hopkins ticket chairman for the rafel stated that the price is $1.00. A. hooked rug and house potrait will be the prizes. Tour tickets will be $5.00 and the sage, Knox and Button houses; will be shown. Election of officers took place.
