`-- The regular meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission was: called to
order at 7:33, P.M. Members: in attendance were; Nancy Pike, Tom Hopkins*
Dick Rabbitt„ Mara Weber Dixon, Lori Wilhelm, Adele Froelich, Jesse Freund,
Frank Gans*, Kristin Parneali, Marlene Goetsrhel. Absents Hank Nell,
Mary Lou Schaeffer, Donna Belle Doherty.

hancy Fike spoke on the need for a Preservation Ordinance for the City of McHenry.
Also ntted,. does: the- Gity of McHenry need this type of ordinance? Is this: really
a goal of the City? Discussion followed, but no action was taken a t this. time.
Nancy then spoke of the 10 items or components of a Preservation Ordinance.
1. Purpose
2* Statement of powera and authority
3. Creation of a, historic. preservation committee
J . Criteria. for designation of a landmark
5. Procedure and Criteria for nomination of a landmark
6. Type of action that are renewable by the commission and the legal effect
7. Criteria applied by the commission to the action received
8. Economic effect or service of an action
9. Procedure for appeals- from a preservation commission decision
10. Fines and penalties' for violation of ordinance provisions.
s.." At the next meeting the Commission will discuss, 'What is the: accepted goal of
historic' preservation in our community??
Lori Wilhelm discussed the Heritage Tour to be held on Sept. 17th. Letters es4-- �.nt
to people who may be interested in the Farmers Market. Sixty spaces will be
available,. Entertainment is. in the talking stage at the present, hit several idesa
were mentioned and action will betaken on these sugges-tions;.
The Budget committee of Dick Babbitt, fancy Pike, and Tom Hopkins will meet
at 7:30 L.M. on May 15th at CIindhill. All menbers were invited to attend this
special breakfast meeting, and it looks: as if we will have good attendance.
Members, think of a new. secretaty, this typewriter ribbon is on its last legs,
no ribbons: for the R.C. Allen and there is. no way you could read my handwriting.
Election of new officers at the June meeting.
