HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 3/11/1989 - Landmark Commission CITY OF MCHENRY LANDMARK COMMISSION March 11., 1989 The regular monthly meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission was called to order at '7:00 P.M. Members in attendance were: Nancy Fike, Tom Hopkins, Dick Rabbitt, Hank Nell, Lori Wilhelm, Mara Weber Dixon, Mary Lou Schaeffer, Jesse Freund, Adele Froelich, Donna Belle Doherty, Kristin Parneali. Absent: Frank Gans No) Financial Report was available. No new plaque applications have- been received. Minutes of the- previous meeting were unanimously approved. Nancy Fike gave a brief summary of buildings; on Green Street, in which some of the businesses have either moved to another location or are no longer in existence. Those mentioned were: Bolger's Drug Store, Chamber of Commerce. Bldg, City Hall, Don's Submarine, China. Light Bldg, McHenry Savings; Bank. Barb's Hallmark, The- Office Supply, McHenry Bakery, Carey Appliance & McGee's Clothing, McHenry Jewler°s. Nancy Fike also gave a report on attending a meeting in which the Harvard Preservation Commission asked the procedures on becoming a Landmark Commission. It was agreed that the City of McHenry Landmark Commission would help in any way to assist the Harvard Commission. A motion by Hank Nell and seconded by Jesse Freund to notify Lon Smith by letter that his application is being returned for lack of required information for the Facade Improvement Grants- Program was: approved by the members present. Mary Lou Schaeffer reported that additional homes would be opened for the Heritage Tour in September. The homes mentioned were: Know House, Button House, and the Cavannaugh Home. Committeeswere formed for the Heritage Tour' to be held on Sunday September 17th. Meeting adjourned at 8:33 P.M. Respectfully submitted Dick Rabbitt Secretary
