7 February 1989
The regular monthly meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission
was called to order at 7 : 35 P.M. Members in attendance were: Nancy
Fike, Tom Hopkins , Marya Weber, Lori Wilhelm, Mary Lou Schaeffer,
Adele Froelich, Jess Freund, Frank Gans ; absent were: Dick Rabbitt,
Hank Nell , Kristen Panerali , Donna Belle Doherty. Dorothy Uttich has
submitted her resignation.
No Financial Report was available.
No new plaque applications have been received.
Minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved.
Grant Program report: Letters of explanation of the program and
information for obtaining grant applications were given to the Chamber
for distribution with a Chamber Newsletter. No applications for the
Grant Program have been received to date.
Tom Hopkins reported that the McHenry Library is considering building
a new facility and is in the process of sending questionair.es to
Architectural firms .
The library has received the book donated by the Landmark Commission
in memory of Avis Gans .
The Second Annual Fall Heritage Tour date and time were set as follows :
Sunday, September 17 , 11 : 00 A.M. - 4 : 00 P.M. Committee assignments
were made for the following: Tickets , Programs , Staffing of Buildings ,
Thank You ' s , Raffle Arrangements , Historical Research, Coordination of
Activities, Refreshments , Promotion, Set-up & Take-down, Programs and
Poster Distribution. Selected properties at this time include the
Weber Residence on Main St. Other properties are still being arranged.
Nancy Fike distributed copies of Preservation Ordinances and related
information for discussion at the next meeting. The Commission will
begin developing a Preservation Plan.
The City of Harvard has formed a new Preservation Commission and asked
for input from the McHenry Commission. Nancy Fike, Lori Wilhelm and
possibly Marya Weber will attend their meeting on February 22 at 7 : 00
P.M.
The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 35 P.M.
