HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 12/6/1988 - Landmark Commission CITY OF MCHENRY LANDMARK COMMISSION December 6, 1988 `- The regular meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission was called to order at 7:33 P.M. Members in attendance were: Nancy Fike, Dick Rabbitt, Lori Wilhelm, Mara Weber, Adele Froelich, Donna Belle Doherty, Kristin Parneali. Absent: drank Gana, Hank Nell, Tom Hopkins. Dorthy Uttich, Jesse Freund, Mary Lou Schaeffer. Minutes were corrected from the previous meeting to state: Tom Hopkins reported on the Revitalization Committee, and not on donations by groups, and new member Donna Belle Doherty was absent. The Heritage Tour resulted in a profit of $364.681 Nancy Fike presented each member a copy of the Business Renovation Fund Facade Improvement Grant Program. Adele Froelich will draft and send a letter to businessmen explaining the critera and that applications will be aisailable in City Hall. A fine report was: given by Kristin Parneali on the history of the Maurice Gladstone and surrounding property on Green Street. - It was; also stated that new pictures in the downtown signs are now in place. Nancy Fike gave a report on the City Landuse plan update. The committe discussed the followings Keep present zoning system of 14 units per acre. Multi Family housing in downtown area could cause serious traffic problems. Development fees to provide for traffic problems. Noteworthy to the Landmark Commission was the Appearance Standard Options. 1. No requirements whatsoever. 2. Historic district in community should have certain standards of appearance. 33. Open :pact options. 4. Standards for development would apply to all new development, which would include control over the Historic area and Appearance standards..
