HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 10/4/1988 - Landmark Commission CITY OF MCHENRY LANDMARK COMMISSION 4 October 1988 The regular monthly meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission was called to order at 7 : 32 P.M. Members in attendance were: Nancy Fike, Hank Nell , Mary Lou Schaeffer, Mary Vycital , Jesse Freund, Tom Hopkins . The new Student Member will be Kristin Panerali of East Campus . This is the final meeting for Mary Vycital, who will be moving to a warmer climate. Minutes of the previous meeting are corrected as follows : flowers for the Heritage Tour were provided by 3 local Florists and the McHenry Beautification Committee. The minutes were approved as corrected. Financial Report: $162 total expenditure to date for this fiscal year, no expenditures in August. The Plaque for the Walsh-Miller Home at 3710 Main St. was approved by the City Council . This will be Plaque No. 12 Heritage Tour Financial Report: total income from ticket sales and donations : $753 . 00 total expenses : $237 . 23 plus food costs (not yet totaled) Final report will be given next month. The Commission discussed suggestions and improvements for the next Heritage Tour. Need improvements _ included: better promotion and publicity, especially for the businesses which will benefit from the funds ; more advance planning, possibly diversify the tour with additional attractions without losing the main focus . Planning for next year ' s tour will begin at the February meeting. The Heritage Tour Grant Program was discussed, based on draft outlines for the criteria prepared by Tom Hopkins . A Committee was formed consisting of Nancy Fike, Tom Hopkins , Hank Nell , and Jesse Freund to further discuss and develop the criteria for next month ' s meeting. The criteria should be finalized and published for the December meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 25 P.M. to view slides of the Heritage Tour which were taken by Nancy' s husband.
