August 2, 1988.
The monthly meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark Commission was called to, order
at 7:.34 P.M. Members: present were: Nancy Fike, Tom Hopkins, Dick Babbitt, Hank Nell,
Dbrthy Uttich, Lori Wilhelm, Mary Lou Schaeffer,. Adele Froelich, Jesse Freund,
Mary Vycital, and Frank Gans. Absent were Mara Weber End Elizabeth Serritelle.
Prior to; the meeting the members met at the George Miller home on Main Street, sid
toured the 1100 year old home. Mrs. Miller has applied for Lnddmark status.
New clarifications' of categories' was submitted by President Nancy Fike. Discussion
was held on each category and the points awarded for each category.
The Heritage tent during Fiesta days wag well received, and the plan is to continue
this function next year. Commission goals for the future were approved by Mary Lou
Schaeffer and seconded by Lori Wilhelm. Goals: will be sent to the City Council
for their approval".
A discussion was held' on the proposed Progressive Dinner in September, and was
decided to cancel this activity due to lack of interest by several Service
Organizations whose help was needs.
It was secided to stage a Heritage Fall Tour consisting of three buildings and at
least one home. donation of $5.00 for the tour, and the hours would be from 3:00 P.M.
until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday September 24th. A raffle will be held with the winner
receiving a home painting valued at $125.00. 'iaffle tickets would be $1.00 .
It was decided that a, map of plaque homes in McHenry would be given to each tour
particiPant.
Committee established were: Posters and Programs, Lori Wilhelm, Publicity
Adele Froelich, Slide show Gary Nichols, Tickets and printing Tom Hopkins.
Mit special meeting will be held at the home of Lori Wilhelm on August 16th.
Very tasty refreshments were served as the group sang "Happy Birthday" to1IOR Frank Gans,
Meeting adjourned at &:59) P.M.
