Tuesday, March 1 , 1988
The regular monthly meeting of the City of McHenry Landmark
Commission was called to order by Vice Chairman Dick Rabbitt
at 7 : 28. Members present were : Adele Froelich, Nancy Fike,
Dick Rabbitt , Jesse Freund, Mary Vycital , Mary Lou Schaeffer,
Loretta Wilhelm, Dorothy Uttich, Marya Weber . In the absence
of secretary Tom Hopkins, Nancy Fike reported that the financial
report had remained unchanged.
Minutes from the last meeting were approved as presented.
There were no guests at the meeting. No new plaque applications
had been received by the Commission but various members reported
that they had carried letters to home owners whose houses had
been listed on the survey. Additional streets were assigned to
members . Dorothy Uttich to take houses along Green Street,
Dick Rabbit to take those along Crystal Lake Blacktop and Mill
Street , Nancy Fike to take Court Street and Pearl Street .
Progress reports will be made at the April meeting.

histories of buildings on Green Street . Individual members
reported back on the information they had gathered on various
buildings . In addition other buildings were assigned including
the Fuller building and the barber shop to Dick Rabbitt ; the
Thrift Shop and Jack ' s to Dorothy Uttich; Ben Franklin ' s and
the old hospital property to Adele Froelich; Bev ' s World to
Jesse Freund; the McHenry Savings Bank to Dorothy Uttich; the
jewelry story to Adele and Mary Vycital ; and Unti ' s to Nancy Fike .
The April meeting will continue with history summaries . All
members were urged to work on those reports .
Under new business Nancy Fike reported that a proposed plan for
downtown revitalization had been proposed and that the Landmark
Commission would definitely have a role to play in it . Under
other new business , it was suggested that a letter be sent to the
\, Library Board regarding decisions to relocate the library and the
Commission ' s interest in supplying information that might be
considered in such a decision.
No report was made on upcoming seminars .
A motion was made by Adele Froehlich and seconded by Dorothy
Uttich to adjourn. At 8 : 50 Vice Chairman Dick Rabbitt adjourned
the meeting.
