The Business Signs are proceding. Jay Weber has completed the Main

based on permanence of the display. The final layouts will be presented
at the next meeting for Commission review and approval prior to
mounting in the signs . Nancy Fike suggested that the cost for the

not be included in the annual budget. She will check on this .

recommended continuing our membership. Dick Rabbitt moved to continue

City of McHenry Landmark Commission, 2 June 87 (continued)
Fiesta Days : Tom Hopkins spoke with Debbie Gust, chairman of the
"Fair" ( formerly "Art in the Park" ) to take place on July 25 during
the Fiesta Days celebration. Both she and Fran Olsen thought the
idea of a tent to display historical items by the Commission and
items brought in by others, and as a general gathering place to swap
stories would be a good idea. Tentative location for the tent would
be west of the gazebo, near the concessions . Commission members felt
we should locate far enough away from the gazebo so as not to have a
conflict with those activities and sounds . Nancy Fike will check on
a tent. We need to notify the Chamber of size requirements before
July 1 . Other suggestions for the purpose of the tent included
video programs and possibly selling history books and other items
for the City. Commission plans and the schedule of participation will
be finalized at the next meeting.
Tom Hopkins and Dick Rabbitt (and their wives ) will be attending the
Illinois Preservation Conference in Quincy, Illinois on June 5 & 6 ,
and will report on the conference at the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 25 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
