Absent: Chamber of Commerce CEO Kay Rial Bates Also in Attendance: Mayor Low, Alderman Peterson, City Administrator Ma.xeiner, Assistant Administrator Martin, Assistant Director of Public Works Fink, Finance Director Black. Green Street Chairman Alderman Wimmer called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. Discussion Resarding Final Draft of the Comarehe�sive Transaortation Studv Chairman VVimmer introduced Bob Wegener, President and CEO of SEC, the firm which conducted the comprehensive transportation study, to identify and address cuirent and future traffic concerns. `" Mr. Wegener presented the final draft of the Comprehensive Traffic Study, which included an inventory of cunent transportation components within the City, as well as traffic counts, conditions at key intersections, and an identification of intersections/roads operating below acceptable levels of service. Based upon this analysis, SEC has developed a list of recommend�tions the City may consider to improve transportation. Mr. Wegener noted that additionally, the Study contains the prioritization of the projects and possible funding sources. Mr. Wegener reiterated that the Study is a living document that should be updated every other year or so. City Administrator Maa�einer informed the Commission that Staff has reviewed the final draft and is seekin� the Commission's final comments and/or concems prior to presenting the Study to full Council for adoption. Responding to an inquiry by Alderman Condon, Mr. Wegener responded affirmatively that a tr�c signal at Kresswood Drive and Bull Valley Road would be included in the probable cost of the Kresswood Drive improvements. Alderman Glab expressed concern regarding the amount of traffic the Royal DrivelOak Street r�alignment would create through the public park and residential area. The fifty-one curb cuts on Royal Drive should be addressed. Mr. Wegener assured Alderman Glab his concerns would be addressed. � Transportation Commission Meeting August 7, 2006 Page 2 � Alderman Glab departed the meeting at 6:58 p.m. Alderman Condon observed that approximately half of the project appears to be developer- funded. She opined the Study is a valuable tool similar to the Comprehensive Plan. Mrs. Cooney expressed concern regarding the Pearl Street e�rtension. City Administrator Maxeiner observed there are a number of competing projects, which are unlikely to ever occur. A brief discussion ensued. Motion by Condon, seconded by Santi, to recommend to Council the approval of the Comprehensive Transportation Study as presented. Aye: Santi, Wimmer, Condon, Marcinko, Napolitano,Wegener, Thacker. Nay: None. Absent: Glab, Bates. Motion carried.
