HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 8/1/2012 - Police Commission City of McHenry Board of Police Commissioners August 1, 2012 Chairman Haley called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM in the City of McHenry Aldermen’s Conference Room. Also in attendance were Commissioner Gregorio and Commissioner Roberts. Others present, Chief John Jones, Deputy Chief John Birk, and Executive Assistant Marci Geraghty. Consideration of Minutes Motion by Roberts, seconded by Gregorio to approve the minutes from the July 11, 2012 Police Commission meeting as presented. Voting Aye: Gregorio, Roberts, Haley Voting Nay: None Motion carried. Update on Recent Hires Chief Jones advised Officer Zumwalt is in step 4 of his training and performing well in the field. Officer Lusmann is in PTI. Chief Jones said the department receives an update on his progress every 4 weeks. Update on Promotion Process Deputy Chief Birk reported 13 officers registered to take the sergeants test. At the last meeting, 14 were signed up however one officer removed their name from the list. The testing company is scheduled to arrive on September 8th and will give the written exam in the municipal center classroom. The interview timeline was discussed and amended to hold interviews on Saturday, November 10th in the morning and to change the number of interviews from 14 to 13: Saturday, November 10th: five interviews 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, November 12th: four interviews 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday, November 19th: four interviews 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Chief Jones will provide the board with panel questions. Bills for Approval Roberts made a motion, seconded by Gregorio to authorize payment to Theodore Polygraph Service in the amount of $135 and to Center for Therapeutic Services and Psychodiagnostics in the amount of $600 for services rendered for officer candidate Ryan Lusmann. All ayes, motion carried. Chairman Haley noted this was the first time the Center for Therapeutic Services has been used for psych testing and asked Chief Jones to provide the commission with a copy of the test results for the purpose of evaluating their services. Chief Jones commented the department is impressed with Ryan Lusmann and is confident he will be a good officer. City of McHenry Board of Police Commissioners August 1, 2012 Page 2 Other Business D.C. Birk reported the MCPOA Golf Outing held on July 27th at Boone Creek Golf Club was a success. The department is hopeful that at least the goal of $6,500 was reached. Each year, the goal is to raise funds for charitable associations such as Shop with a Cop and Special Olympics, obligated donations that include a $2,000 scholarship for Miss McHenry and $1,750 for each McHenry High School. Any remaining funds are use to assist needy children and their families. Adjournment There being no further business to discuss, Gregorio made a motion, seconded by Roberts to adjourn the meeting. Voting Aye: Gregorio, Roberts, Haley Voting Nay: None Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 4:24 PM. Next meeting is September 5, 2012.
