HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 12/7/2016 - Police Commission City of McHenry Board of Police Commissioners December 7, 2016 Chairman Rick Huber called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM in the City of McHenry Council Chambers with the following Commissioners present, Ramon Gregorio and Mike Roberts. Also present: Chief John Jones, Deputy Chief John Birk, Human Resources Manager Ann Campanella, and Deputy Clerk Marci Geraghty. Public Input: None. 1. Consideration of October 5, 2016 Meeting Minutes Motion by Gregorio, seconded by Roberts to approve the minutes from the October 5, 2016 Police Commission meeting as presented. Voting Aye: Roberts, Gregorio, Huber Voting Nay: None Absent: None Motion carried. 2. Unfinished Business a. Lateral Entry Eligibility List. Chief Jones addressed the commission regarding his recommendation to begin the process of establishing a Lateral Entry Eligibility List. He recommended advertising for candidates on January 16, 2017, and to close application in three-weeks or February 6, 2017. Chief Jones said 10-12 candidates can make the list that will be in effect for one-year. After some discussion, the Commission was in consensus to accept the Chief’s recommendations and begin advertising for Lateral Entry Eligibility List candidates on January 16, 2017. b. Department/Personnel Update. Chief Jones reported Officer Piekarski tendered his resignation effective December 26, 2016. Derik Schmidt is fifth on the Eligibility List and is the next available candidate. Pending satisfactory test results, he will be sworn-in on December 22, 2016. Commander King tendered her resignation after 20 years with the department. Promotions for a Commander and Sergeant position are being considered and a swearing-in ceremony for these positions will be held before the City Council on January 16, 2017. c. Police Dispatch/Administration Renovations. Police Administration and new dispatch center construction projects are progressing on schedule. 2 3. New Business Revised Meeting Schedule. At the January meeting, a motion will be made to change the date of the regularly scheduled February meeting from the 1st to the 8th. 4. Communications None 5. Motion to Adjourn There being no further business to discuss, Gregorio made a motion, seconded by Roberts to adjourn the meeting. Voting Aye: Roberts, Gregorio, Huber Voting Nay: None Abstaining: None Not Voting: None Absent: None Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 4:25 PM.
