Board of Police Commissioners
December 5, 2018
Chairman Rick Huber called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM in the Police Administration Conference
Room with the following Commissioner present, Michael Roberts and Ramon Gregorio. Also present was
Commander Paul Funk., and Administrative Assistant Debbie Shuett. Absent: Chief John Birk, Deputy
Chief Tom Walsh
Public Comment
None.
1. Motion to Approve October 3, 2018 Meeting Report
Motion by Roberts, second by Gregorio to approve the minutes from the October 3, 2018 Police
Commission meeting as presented. All ayes, motion carried.
2. Unfinished Business
Luis Pena is doing very well and was released to solo patrol on Thursday October 4th. Pena very
hard worker, very well liked.
Megan Carey is set to graduate from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy on December 21st.
Carey will be assigned the Midnight Shift on December 23rd and her FTO will be Rick Rewiako.
Sergeant Promotional Exams have been posted.
3. New Business
Chief Birk, Deputy Chief Walsh, Sgt. Sexton and Det. Roske observed Megan Carey on
December 7th at the academy during Redman training. Have heard very good comments regarding
Megan Carey.
Lateral list is set to expire mid-April. Chief Birk can email lateral list to Commissioners to
discuss at next meeting either February 6th or March 6th.
Cancelling January 2, 2019 Commissioners Meeting.
4. Communications
The following bill(s) were presented for approval:
None

Motion by Chairman Huber, second by Gregorio to adjourn the meeting at 4:10 PM. All ayes,
motion carried.
