Board of Police Commissioners
December 4, 2019
Temporary Police Chairman Mike Roberts called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM in the Police
Administration Conference Room with the following Commissioner present, John Jones and Sue Meyer.
Also present was Chief John Birk, Deputy Chief Tom Walsh and Administrative Assistant Debbie Shuett
and guest speaker Monte Johnson.
Public Comment
None.
1. Motion to Approve November 6, 2019 Meeting Report
Motion by Temporary Police Chairman Mike Roberts to approve meeting minutes. Jones, second
by Sue Meyer to approve the minutes from the November 6, 2019 Police Commission meeting as
presented. All ayes, motion carried.
2. Unfinished Business
Personnel – Diana Hernandez is doing well. She will enter into Step 3 of the Field Training
program.
Officer Sue Ellis is doing well. Was released early from Field Training by 1 month.
Two new Officers were sworn in on December 3rd. Ashley O’Herron and Henri Krueger. Both
will start the Field Training program as soon as possible. Now have 47 Officers, still in need of 2
more Officers which has already been approved by City Council.
No new Lateral applications are appealing at this time. Will discuss new eligibility list at next
meeting in January 2020. Also looking to update the Police Commissioners questions for
candidates, which will also be discussed at next meeting.
3. New Business
Need to appoint new Police Chairman. Commissioner John Jones nominates Sue Meyer.
Commission Mike Roberts nominates Sue Meyer. Sue Meyer will be the new Police Chairman.
Monte Johnson – discussed with Police Commissioners about on line open meeting act forms that
need to be completed within 90 days of new appointment. Gave information about the website in
order to complete the open meetings act.
4. Communications
The following bill(s) were presented for approval:

5. Adjournment
Motion by Commissioner Mike Roberts, second by John Jones to adjourn the meeting at 8:49
AM. All ayes, motion carried.
