November 4, 2020
Police Chairman Sue Meyer called the meeting to order at 8:00 am Via Zoom per State Law P.A. 100-
0640 (SB 2135) due to the COVID-19 Pandemic You are invited to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Mike Roberts. Also present was Deputy Chief Tom Walsh and Administrative Assistant Deb Shuett.
Absent Chief John Birk.

1. Motion to Approve June 23, 2020 Meeting Report
Motion by Police Chairman Sue Meyer to approve meeting minutes. Mike Roberts, second by
John Jones to approve the minutes from the June 23, 2020 Police Commission meeting as
presented. All ayes, motion carried.
2. Unfinished Business
Personnel:
Henri Krueger, who came from Lake County College, was released to solo patrol. Has been
struggling a little bit on his own and will have to extend his probation for a couple months.
Sergeants on the afternoon shift are planning on helping him through his struggles. Hopefully will
be released from his probation extension period soon.
Chief Birk received a temporary approval to move forward with the hiring process of Joseph
Lopez who is from Washington DC. Sent out Sgt. Clesen and Det. Roske to Washington DC to
conduct background checks and looked at his personnel file and met with his family. Everything
looked good. Trying to schedule his psychological and polygraph. Have a tentative date for his
psychological test for November 17th, hopefully can also get the polygraph testing done while he
is here. Possible hiring date preferably the first of January 2021.
Anticipating 2 Officers leaving for lateral positions probably by the end of the year. Will have
room to hire 2 more Officers. Have 2 academy slots reserved for March 2021.

Motion by Police Chairman Sue Meyer to adjourn meeting, John Jones, second Mike Roberts to
adjourn the meeting at 8:09 AM. All ayes, motion carried.
