HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 10/5/2016 - Police Commission City of McHenry Board of Police Commissioners October 5, 2016 Chairman Rick Huber called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM in the City of McHenry Council Chambers with the following Commissioner present Ramon Gregorio. Absent: Mike Roberts. Also present: Chief John Jones, Deputy Chief John Birk, Human Resources Manager Ann Campanella, and Deputy City Clerk Marci Geraghty. Public Input: None. 1. Consideration of September 7, 2016 Meeting Minutes Motion by Huber, seconded by Gregorio to approve the minutes from the September 7, 2016 Police Commission meeting as presented. Voting Aye: Huber, Gregorio Voting Nay: None Abstaining: None Not Voting: None Absent: Roberts Motion carried. 2. Unfinished Business a. Lateral Entry Eligibility List. Chief Jones addressed the commission regarding his desire to postpone the start of the Lateral Entry Eligibility List until reconstruction of the Police Admin/Dispatch areas and the hiring process for potentially nine or 11 new dispatchers is near conclusion. Chief recommends not overlapping the two processes. He added the city has a strong pool of candidates on the current eligibility list and if the commission agrees, he recommends beginning the process at the January meeting when a timeline would be presented. The commission concurred. b. Department/Personnel Update. Officers Malik and Kulcsar are currently in step one of field training and doing well. A detailed update will be available for the next meeting. c. Police Dispatch/Administration Renovations. Chief Jones reported construction is on schedule.  Police administration and dispatch center renovations are scheduled to be completed March 3, 2017. Three dispatchers from Harvard were hired. The Harvard center will close on December 27th. In the interim, they are working part-time in the McHenry dispatchers are working Upon completion, the Police Commission will meet in the new conference room that will be located upstairs.  Chief Jones informed the commission he will discuss the procedure for posting the Lateral Entry Eligibility List at the meeting in October. 2 3. New Business None. 4. Communications None 5. Motion to Adjourn There being no further business to discuss, Gregorio made a motion, seconded by Roberts to adjourn the meeting. Voting Aye: Roberts, Gregorio, Huber Voting Nay: None Abstaining: None Not Voting: None Absent: None Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 PM.
