Board of Police Commissioners
May 2, 2018
Chairman Rick Huber called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM in the Police Administration Conference
Room with the following Commissioner present, Michael Roberts and Ramon Gregorio. Also present
was Chief John Birk, Deputy Chief Tom Walsh and Administrative Assistant Debbie Shuett.
Public Comment
None.
1. Motion to Approve March 14, 2018 Meeting Report
Motion by Roberts, second by Gregorio to approve the minutes from the March 14, 2018 Police
Commission meeting as presented. All ayes, motion carried.
2. Unfinished Business
In process of establishing New Eligibility list. Had 29 applications. Orientation will take place on
May 9th at 7:00pm in the Aldermen’s Conference room. Written test will be held on Saturday
May 12th starting at 8:00 am in the classroom. May explore possibility regarding education
requirements. As of now, applicants must have Bachelor’s degree in order to apply.
Lateral list. Peter Mader is at top of the Eligibility list and he is currently a Police Officer with the
Island Lake Police Department. The personal back ground, medical and physical for Peter Mader
has been completed. Waiting to be sent for psychological and polygraph, which should be
completed soon. Should have a job contingency by end of the week.
Luis Pena is second on the Eligibility list and he is currently a Police Officer with the Chicago
Police Department. The personal background, medical and physical for Luis Pena has been
completed. Waiting to be sent for psychological and polygraph, which should be completed soon.
May be hired by end of May.
3. New Business
At the McHenry City Council meeting on April 30, 2018 the Mayor has approved the
reappointment of Chairman Rick Huber. Chairman Rick Huber’s term will expire on 4/30/2021.
4. Communications

5. Adjournment
Motion by Huber, second by Gregorio to adjourn the meeting at 4:30 PM. All ayes, motion
carried.
