Board of Police Commissioners
March 4, 2020
Police Chairman Sue Meyer called the meeting to order at 8:12 AM in the Police Administration
Conference Room with the following Commissioner present, John Jones and Mike Roberts. Also present
was Chief John Birk, Deputy Chief Tom Walsh and Administrative Assistant Deb Shuett.
Public Comment
None.
1. Motion to Approve February 5, 2020 Meeting Report
Motion by Police Chairman Sue Meyer to approve meeting minutes. John Jones, second by Mike
Roberts to approve the minutes from the February 5, 2020 Police Commission meeting as
presented. All ayes, motion carried.
2. Unfinished Business
Personnel:
Ashley O’Herron was released early from Field Training.
Henri Krueger, who came from Lake County College, is doing well. He is now in Step 3 of his
field training. Hopefully will be released in about 1 ½ weeks.
3. New Business
Applications for Entry Level Patrol Officer is now closed, closed on March 2nd, 2020. Have about
34 eligible applications – about 80 received. DC Walsh and Nicole Meyer, HR Coordinator will
be sorting through the applications making sure everyone provided all the information necessary.
Orientation meeting will be held on March 19th at 7:00 pm; Written Examination will be held on
March 21st at 9:00 am.
Will be taking 1 application off the lateral list. Presently an Officer for the Metro DC – is looking
to relocate to area – will set up interview along with all other applicants that pass the written
exam.
Next Academy slot is either in August or September.
Oral Interview dates will be April 4th and April 11th, times to be determined later. Will have two
additional add on dates (if necessary) on April 7th and April 9th between the hours of 5:00 pm and
8:00 pm. Need a score of 75% or better on oral Interview in order to be placed on the Eligibility
list.

Motion by Commissioner John Jones, second Mike Roberts to adjourn the meeting at 8:42 AM.
All ayes, motion carried.
