HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 1/7/2015 - Police Commission City of McHenry Board of Police Commissioners January 7, 2015 Vice-Chairman Michael Roberts called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM in the City of McHenry Aldermen’s Conference Room with the following persons present: Commissioner Ramon Gregorio, Chief of Police John Jones, Deputy Chief of Police John Birk, and recording secretary Marci Geraghty. Public Input: None. Consideration of November 4, 2014 Minutes Motion by Mr. Gregorio, seconded by Vice-Chairman Roberts to approve the minutes from the December 3, 2014 Police Commission meeting as presented. Voting Aye: Gregorio, Roberts Voting Nay: None Absent: Huber Motion carried. Chairman Huber joined the meeting at 4:07 PM. Unfinished Business Eligibility List Update Chief Jones reported the new Patrol Officer Eligibility List has been completed and will be posted today upon execution by the Commission. The new list will expire on August 25, 2015. Chief Jones reported the number one person on the list, Ian Abrahamsen, has accepted a position with the City of Carpentersville. As a result and after military points are added, number 4 on the list Brett Kinney will move up to the number one position. Officer Updates • Officers Samuel Schafer graduated from PTI. From 80 recruits, Officer Schafer was the recipient of the Academic Achievement Award. • Officer Conway will begin solo-patrol next week. New Business: Police Sergeant Exams Chief Jones requested permission from the commission to contract I/O Solutions to perform testing for the sergeant exam. The exams will be held next July or August however the Chief would like to provide candidates with reading materials by April. The sergeants list is valid for three years. Notice will be posted sometime in April. The written test will be given in June; orals in July; and the new list will be posted in August. Patrol Officers are required to have at least three years experience or more to be eligible to take the sergeant exam. Deputy Chief Birk noted only Commissioners will interview sergeant candidates. Baseline questions will be provided by the department. It is expected eight to 10 candidates will be tested. Chief points will be added to the total written and oral scores. Motion by Mr. Gregorio, seconded by Mr. Roberts to authorize a contract with I/O Solutions for the 2015 Sergeants Exams. Voting Aye: Gregorio, Roberts, Huber Voting Nay: None Absent: None Motion carried. Bills for Approval: None. Adjournment There being no further business to discuss, Mr. Gregorio made a motion, seconded by Mr. Roberts to adjourn the meeting. Voting Aye: Gregorio, Roberts, Huber Voting Nay: None Absent: None Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 PM.
