Public Comment: Any person wishing to address the Board of Police Commissioners
will be required to identify themselves for the record and will be asked but are not
required to provide their address. Public comment may be restricted to three-minutes for
each individual speaker.

September 6, 2017
Chairman Rich Huber called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM in the Police Administration Conference
Room with the following Commissioner present, Mike Roberts and Ramon Gregorio. Also present:
Deputy Police Chief John Birk and Deputy Clerk Marci Geraghty.
Public Comment
None.
1. Motion to Approve August 2, 2017 Meeting Report
Motion by Roberts, second by Huber to approve the minutes from the August 2, 2017 Police
Commission meeting as presented.
Voting Aye: Roberts, Huber, Gregorio
Voting Nay: None
Absent: None
Motion carried.
2. Unfinished Business
a) Deputy Chief Birk provided updates on the department’s newest patrol officers and
announced Officer Schmidt will graduate from the Cook County Sherriff’s Police Academy
later this month.
3. New Business
Deputy Chief Birk informed the Commission that Police Chief John Jones has announced his
retirement after 28 years with the McHenry Police Department. Chief Jones’ resignation is
effective October 20, 2017. The retirement of Chief Jones will create a new officer position due
to promotions. A discussion regarding the current Lateral Entry lists ensured. It was estimated
the interview process for a candidate from the Lateral Entry list would begin mid-November.

a) There were no bills presented for approval.
5. Adjournment
Motion by Gregorio, second by Huber to adjourn the meeting at 4:15 PM.
