a) Police Sergeant Exams
Chief Jones announced 16 officers have registered to take the Sergeants Exam. The written test will
be given on September 12. I/O Solutions will proctor the exam at $75 per candidate and $500 for
administrative fees. The Chief will conduct interviews of the candidates for “Chief points,” which
will be added to their scores after Police Commission interviews on September 15 – 18th. Ten points
will be awarded based on six criteria.
The Commission will hold interviews on October 6 (six), 8 (six), and 13 (four) from 4-7PM each day.
Years of service and chief points for qualifying candidates will be added after the commission
submits their scores. All points will be tabulated by November 4th. Only Commissioners will
participate in the oral interviews and they will not be aware of point standings to ensure the process
remains objective. Scoring for the exam will be apportioned as follows:
40% Results from written exam
45% Results from oral interviews
05% Years of service
10% Chief Points
b) SRO Update
Chief Jones reported a uniform of slacks and a polo shirt is being considered as the SRO uniform. It is
the intention of the new uniform to make the officer more approachable to the students and staff at the
high schools.
c) Personnel Update
Officer Ryan Gregorio accepted a position with the Village of Huntley. An exit interview was
conducted and was very positive. Adam Tudor is the next available candidate on the eligibility list.
Chief Jones noted the eligibility list needs to be updated to remove the names of expired candidates.
New Business
Chief Jones announced the hiring of three additional dispatchers. This increases the number of McHenry
Dispatchers from nine to 12 in preparation for providing dispatch services to other agencies in McHenry
County.

decide which three agencies in McHenry County will be located; one of which will be McHenry County.
The rest must close by July 1, 2017.
