MEMORANDUM
To: Public Works Committee Members
From: John A. Lobaito, City Administrator
Date: January 10, 2022
Subject: Intersection of Bonner Drive and Beach Road
Enclosed is a letter from Susan Pinkawa of 5010 Bonner Drive. Her home is located
on the northeast corner of Beach Drive and Bonner Road. Ms. Pinkawa's complaint
and concern is the reckless driving at this intersection where children wait at a bus
stop (map enclosed). Southbound vehicle drivers on Beach Road are cutting the
corner at high rates of speed when turning onto Bonner Drive. Ms. Pinkawa is
suggesting a 3-way stop at this intersection to control the traffic. Presently, there is a
stop sign for the westbound lane on Bonner Drive at the intersection of Beach Road.
Ms. Pinkawa believes adding stop signs on Beach Road will increase the safety at this
location.
The school bus travels westbound on Bonner Drive then stops in front of Ms.
Pinkawa's home to pickup four children. The location of this stop allows the children
to board the bus without crossing the street. Moving the bus stop to another location
may not be practical.
Ms. Pinkawa will be in attendance at the Committee Meeting.
