RE: 2000 Annual Pace/Dial-A-ride Local Share Agreement
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Local Share Agreement for 2000 in the amount not to
exceed $48,384 and authorize the Mayor to execute the Agreement.
Annually, since 1987, the City of McHenry has entered into a Local Share Agreement with
Pace offering a curb-to-curb, dial-a-ride program. The program is funded through the
collection of fares with the remaining service cost funded by pace at 75% and the City at 25%
less fare revenue, or $134,227 whichever is less.
The service hours and a listing of holidays in which no service is provided is detailed on
Exhibit “A” of the Agreement.
Riders are arranged through a service provider under contract with Pace. Fares charged
to riders today compared with charges in 1987 are as follows:
1987 2000
Full Fare $1.50 $1.75
Reduced Fare .75 .75
Transfer .10 .10
Reduced Transfer .05 .05
Reduced fare rates are provided to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, students, and
children age seven through 11 years.
Below is a summary of ridership and City subsidy cost for the past five years.
Pace Contract Annual
Year (Not to Exceed) Actual Cost Ridership
2000 $48,384 $48,384 (est.) 34,115 (est.)
1999 $43,543 $43,543 (est.) 36,000 (est.)
1998 $45,326 $38,316 35,546
