Background Pursuant to Chapter 4 of the City of McHenry Municipal Code, liquor establishments located in the City limits must renew their licenses annually with the City of McHenry by April 30 (the end of the fiscal year). Attached is the 1999-00 list of establishments that have submitted their liquor license renewal applications. In addition, all new managers and/or owners must be fingerprinted. The results of those fingerprints should be received from the Illinois State Police within the next six to eight weeks. Establishments whose managers and/or owners are new include: Old Bridge Tavern (new manager); CarJen Corporation d/b/a Whale's Tail (new owners); Eagle Food Center #223 (new manager); VFW Veterans Club, Inc. (new manager); and Liberty Club of McHenry, Inc. (new manager). An asterisk appears next to the name of these establishments on the attached list. The liquor license applications for these establishments will be approved subject to receipt of satisfactory fingerprint results. The City of McHenry has also been informed by the owners of Wine Express; Inc. located at 1249 North Green Street that they would not be renewing their liquor license. In conjunction with this non-renewal, the attached ordinance is amending the number of Class B liquor licenses must be passed. Recommendation It is recommended the City Council approve the 1999/00 annual renewal of liquor licenses for all establishments on the attached list, subject to receipt of satisfactory fingerprint results for those managers and/or owners who are new.
