Re: Abatement Ordinance – 1997B Series Bonds
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the attached Ordinance Abating the Real Estate Taxes
for the 1997B Series Bonds for Tax Levy Year 1999 in the amount of $122,925.
At the December 29, 1999 City Council meeting, the Mayor requested that the City Council
not take action on the Abatement Ordinance for the 1997B Series Bonds. A question of
necessity to abate these bonds was raised as well as the possibility of not abating the
bonds to help fund future capital projects.
After consulting with Harold Warren, he has advised Staff that it would be inappropriate for
the City to use these funds for this purpose.
It is recommended that the City Council approve the Ordinance abating the Real Estate
Taxes for the 1999 Tax Levy Year.
