Lobaito, City Administrator FOR: August 16, 2000 Regular City Council Meeting RE: Class F2 Liquor License Request – 4605 W. Elm Street Recommendation: To approve the request for a Class F2 Liquor License from Perez & Rivera, Inc. d/b/a LaRosita Grocery, 4605 W. Elm Street with a condition, and pass the attached Ordinance increasing the number of Class F2 Liquor Licenses from six to seven. The attached Class F2 Liquor License application was received from Perez & Rivera, Inc. for the retail sale of alcoholic liquors in packages only. Laura & Sergio Perez are the owners of the new LaRosita Grocery located at 4605 W. Elm Street. As Council is aware, an F2 Liquor License permits the sale of alcoholic beverages in packages only and for consumption off premises, where 50% or more of the public sales area of the premises is devoted to goods and commodities other than alcohol. Mr. & Mrs. Perez met with Mayor Cuda on June 28, 2000. Mr. Perez has been fingerprinted and a satisfactory result has been received. All the necessary paperwork has been provided, and the $800 license fee has been paid. This liquor license is conditioned upon the fact that an English-speaking employee must be on the premises at all times when the store is open. This was agreed upon by Mr. & Mrs. Perez, to facilitate store enforcement of the City’s regulations relating to the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors. A letter from the Perez’s is attached to this supplement. As Liquor Commissioner, Mayor Cuda is recommending that the City Council approve the attached application for a Class F2 Liquor License from Perez & Rivera, Inc. d/b/a LaRosita Grocery with the condition. In addition, approve the attached Ordinance increasing the number of Class F2 licenses from six to seven. mmg Attach.
