AGENDA SUPPLEMENT
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: John A. Lobaito, City Administrator
FOR: July 11, 2001 Regular City Council Meeting
RE: Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of McCullom Lake for
Sanitary Sewer Service
The City Council is aware that the Village of McCullom Lake at its last election was
successful in obtaining approval of their referendum for the construction of a sewer
system to service the community. It is planned that the treatment of McCullom Lake
sewage would be done by McHenry as the McCullom Lake area is within the City of
McHenry Facility Planning Area.
In May, the Mayor and Staff met with representatives of McCullom Lake to discuss in
general terms, how the two communities would proceed on this project. In
conclusion, an intergovernmental agreement is needed effectively memorializing the
obligations of each community.
Representatives from the Village of McCullom Lake will be in attendance at the City
Council meeting to discuss the project and to request specific direction to have city
staff begin working on the agreement. John Roth Corporate Attorney for McCullom
Lake has submitted the attached letter on behalf of the village asking for this
authorization to proceed. Included with Mr. Roth’s letter is information that was
circulated prior to the election on April 3, 2001 and an update from Baxter &
Woodman, McCullom Lake’s engineer.
